This week I made a rather abrupt decision that, whilst obviously bearing no significance to anything but my own self-reflection, was one of the craziest things I've ever done: I dyed my hair black.
I have wanted black hair for quite some time, but the maintenance and potentially major regret always put me off, plus I've never coloured my hair aside from some ill-advised highlights at 13, and my dabblings with a fade-out dark green chunk last year. I coloured my hair online using an old post-haircut photograph and showed it to my mum, who immediately loved the look and offered to dye it for me. A short while later we were in Asda, deciding on a dark brown shade to let me acclimatise. Our initial intention of using a semi-permanent dye was thwarted due to absolutely no stock whatsoever, so I bit the bullet and bought two boxes of Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Foam in 03 Dark Brown.
The foam was incredibly quick and easy to use, and the result is as follows:

Suffice to say my hair isn't dark brown at all but rather a nice black that isn't harsh against my skin. It was a lot darker than I expected, and I'm really pleased with it. I'm so glad I took the leap! It has been well-received so far (Bryan likes it; he used to have black hair when we were in school!) and I feel like quite the cool cat.
Since dying it on Friday I bought a cheap black pencil by Collection 2000 which I use with my usual brown powder to darken my eyebrows slightly. It's tricky to get the balance between too-light brows and Sharpie doodles, but I think I've gotten the hang of it now. I of course had to try on my purple lipstick to compliment my new Goth hair – cue obligatory lipstick pout.

In other news, I picked up a few bottles of the MUA Nail Constellations for £2 each in Superdrug, which I hope to do a little review of. I also bought a new camera on eBay this week, which should arrive in the next couple of days. I opted for the Olympus E-P3 after selling my E-P1 in the summer due to its lack of flash. I can't wait for it to arrive. :)
In the meantime, here are some photos of my black hair inspiration. Have a great week!

I saw this on Instagram and thought it looked amazing, it suits you down to the ground! The dark brown dye was a great idea (why do they always turn out so much darker than they say?) as it looks a true black but has that warmer edge to it. In school, when being emo was all the rage, loads of people dyed their hair with a true black/blue black dye which looks amazing on some people but looked so fake and awful on 99% of them, especially with their light eyebrows haha! It's clear black hair was made for you though. Oh, and your nail polish has made me need to get to an MUA counter as soon as possible haha xxx
Thank you Hannah! ^_^ I'd like to try a natural or blue-black dye but I fear it would emphasise my cold skin tone and make me look unhealthy and drained! I am so surprisd with myself for doing it; such a rebel, just a few years late. Definitely check the nail beads out; I'll try and do a post about them when my camera arrives. xxx
You are adorable with black hair!!! I'm glad you took the plunge. ;)
Thank you! ^_^ I'm getting used to it now and I'm so pleased to have done it.
