January Theme: New Year's Eve

Happy new year! I broke my phone a few days before Christmas and it's my only camera, so I wasn't able to document much of the festive season for myself or my blog. It's all fixed now (thank you, insurance) but unfortunately I couldn't get any photos of my outfit for New Year's Eve to participate in the Sophistique Noir monthly theme post.

My NYE was actually quite eventful as I stupidly left the lights on in my car all day – it was raining, so I put my headphones on/faffed around with music selection before leaving the car, thinking this was smart as I wouldn't risk breaking the new iPod I'd gotten for Christmas. Smart, yes? Well, due to the superawesometunes I couldn't hear the loud beep to warn me that my lights were still on, and thus returned from work to find a very dead car. As I didn't have a phone, I had to use one belonging to a woman who worked in the subway and thankfully the RAC man arrived in time for me to just make Bryan and I's 6PM dinner reservation (we couldn't get one any later!). I got ready in fifteen minutes; a new personal best, I think. We spent the rest of the evening watching Spirited Away as neither of us felt like going out, and we had a really lovely time together.

Here is what I wore:

NYE 2012-13
(Hell Bunny dress, Wolford tights, Topshop 'Jodie' shoes, Kill Star pentagram earrings, Jaeger coat).

The tartan dress and Wolfords were Christmas gifts from Bryan – doesn't he know me well? ^_^ I scored the leather Mary Janes for £27 in the Topshop sale after managing to resist them since the day they appeared online, and they are the most comfortable shoes ever. My mum pointed out that they are almost identical to the shoes I wore on my first day of school, but "in a good way". The earrings were a gift from myself, because I'm very generous, and the coat is my new baby: my 21st birthday present from my mum and granny! I have named him Clancy.

My new year's resolutions are to get back to the gym (December had exams and parties, so exercising was the first to go!), study more effectively by going to the library regularly, cut down on my sugar intake, and to buy fewer clothes. They feel manageable. :)

I hope you all had a great time over the festive season and good luck to all those students who start back tomorrow! If you participate in the theme post, do leave me a comment.

Thanks! I think I'm going to buy one of their petticoats to wear underneath. And yes, I really am. <3 You look great in your latest post! Very cute shoes – I got some steal-ish flats in the Topshop sale too; the purple velvet ones with the jewelled crosses. Hail embellished shoes! x

Your boyfriend is very thoughtful with his gifts. I imagine you looked amazing in this outfit, and it sounds like you spent a lovely evening closing out 2012 (after dealing with the dead car - ugh!). I absolutely love that you named your coat. We tend to name our electronic devices but have not yet started naming clothes. I might start now. ;)

(Sorry for my belated comments - holidays followed by illness followed by house guests really wiped me out for a while! I do appreciate your post for the NYE theme!!)

Oh don't be silly, it always takes a while to catch up on things after Christmas.

Bryan really did well this year; I was very impressed! We did have a great time even though it was such a quiet evening (well, quiet in the end)!

And yes, I am a bit odd for naming my coat and my workmates think I'm creepy for referring to it as "my child" but I just love it so much! I'm almost scared to wear it.

I'm glad you had a nice festive season! ^_^
